June 2, 2020
For the third day in a row, the number of new cases decreased on June 2. If this data is accurate, that is good news. I believe it is premature to begin celebrating because the daily protests in our cities could be having an effect on testing and reporting.
As of midnight on 6/2, Alabama had reported a total of 18,720 cases of COVID (including 297 probable cases) and 653 deaths.
Overall, Mobile County has had 2283 cases, Jefferson County (home of Birmingham) has had 1,882 cases and Montgomery County has had 1,802 cases. Montgomery has nearly surpassed Jefferson in its number of cases despite having conducted only 1/4 as many tests. It's an interesting comparison that Madison County (home of Huntsville) has had only 344 positive cases and 16,076 tests while Montgomery County has had 1,802 cases and only 10,643 tests.
