I will be very brief tonight because I am still shaken by the terrible images of domestic terrorists laying siege to the U.S. Capitol.
Today brought news of 4,591 new cases (incl. 1,412 probables) and 10,329 tests in Alabama. According to BamaTracker, the average positivity rate over the last 7 days is 42%. Today also brought us the tragic report that 108 more Alabamians died from this virus, taking us six deaths shy of 5,000 in all.
Hospitalizations declined to 2,967 patients in 108 hospitals. The State is still 3rd in the nation in per capita hospitalizations with 63 patients per 100K population.
According to Bloomberg’s vaccine tracker, which was last updated at 2:30 this afternoon, 15.9 million vaccine doses have been delivered to the states and 5.46 million have been administered. In Alabama, 43K doses have been administered out of 184K doses allocated to our State. Etowah County has joined Calhoun County in moving from vaccinating eligible persons in Phase 1a to 1b. The Tuscaloosa VA announced that it will begin administering Moderna vaccine to outpatient veterans next Tuesday.
Tonight, please join me in praying for our nation and our State. The totals:
